The star of that show "Burn Notice" may have been a little too lit up when he got behind the wheel last weekend -- dude was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence in Miami Beach.

TMZ has learned Jeffrey Donovan was arrested on suspicion of DUI last Sunday, July 12th. The 41-year-old posed for a cop cam and was released several hours later.

So far, no comment from Donovan's reps

I've really started to enjoy Burn Notice since the new season started up again. I'm a little disappointed in Mr. Donovan getting a DUI though. Google doesn't show up anything with a past history of chemical dependency. But google now allows you to comment on links? wtf is up with that.

Rep. Pete Hoekstra Complains About Late Night

Ahh, the life of a typical member of Congress is pretty sweet. You are well paid, you get your own nice office, a staff to do the heavy lifting, lobbyists who will not only tell you what to think but pay so that you can return to Capitol Hill again and again and continue not thinking. When so many Americans are going without health care, you've got a nice health care plan paid for by their sweat. And when the economy's in turmoil, you get to ride it out in a job that's extremely hard to lose -- though if you do, all that means is that you emerge from the cocoon of the legislative branch as a butterfly ready to drink the milkweed of corporate boards and special interest shops and think tanks and freebie print columns. It's nice work if you can get it, and for most of those that do, you can't imagine them doing any other job. Such is their incompetence.

But at the same time, every once in a while your elected officials find that GOVERNMENTING IS HARD! Luckily, they have Twitter at the ready, to bleat out 140 characters of bitching.

Hey, Pete! This job too tough for you, go ahead and resign, maybe? Nothing special or essential about you, son. I'm sure Michigan can scrounge up another Republican representative that's at least as good as you at whatever it is you are doing.

Same goes for the rest of you jerks.

In this clip, Juliette and her band give the Turks of Istanbul a slamming version of their newest tune, "Terra Incognita" at the Rock N Coke Festival Does she have what it takes to rock the only city in the world to straddle two continents? Just ask a Turk... They say, "We love you Juliette! You are so beautiful!" And she can rock, too.

The Westboro Baptist Church better watch their back.

The Chaparral: What do you do about… the hate, which I don’t want to bring up, but...
Adam Lambert: Oh yeah, yeah. I’ve been hearing about that. Yeah, there were some protestors in San Jose. I guess the Westboro Baptist Church is planning on picketing a bunch of the concerts because of American Idol’s “fag infestation.” Well, I guess they like to put on their signs, “God Hates Fags,” but I think God hates hate more.

TC: Amen. [high fives]
AL: I kind of think there’s probably a better way of spending their energy. Probably doing some good would be better, promoting positive causes, helping the homeless…

TC: Hugging someone.
AL: Yeah. Spreading some love, I think, would probably be more beneficial than hate, you know? But I ignore it. I say everyone’s entitled to their opinion!

TC: A change is gonna come.
AL: [laughs] I agree, I agree.

TC: Pet peeves?
AL: That kind of crap. That’s a pet peeve. No, in a related thing to that, it’s been interesting—because I’m Jewish. [laughs] And clearly gay. And I get a lot fan mail and gifts that are trying to express Christian ideals and Bible scriptures. It’s awkward because that’s not my belief system. I respect people for the intention in which they’re giving these gifts, because I know it’s out love and hope, but it doesn’t match my belief system at all, so I kind of wish there’d be a little bit more respect for that.

TC: The way I see it: music and spirituality, they can be intertwined, but when they start to contradict each other or people start to lose the meaning behind the music…
AL: Yeah! I mean, my music is just for entertainment value, I’m not trying to preach to anybody, I’m not trying to spread any agenda, I’m just trying to get people up and dancing and feeling good. There’s nothing controversial about that.

TC: It’s just fun.
AL: Yeah, it’s fun. It’s fun and it’s sexy. And if sexy scares you, don’t listen to my music.

Nick Lachey on Jessica Simpson: I Wish Her the Best

Although Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey, former spouses and stars of the reality show Newlyweds, now find themselves suddenly single at the same time, Lachey insists there is no reunion planned.

"I think it’s fun storytelling, but there's very little truth to any of it," the singer told PEOPLE at a party at Dusk at the Caesars Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City Saturday night. "I certainly have heard about her breakup and I wish her the best, as I’ve always done. Aside from that, there really is nothing to say."

So has he reached out to his ex-wife since her sudden split with Tony Romo? "I haven't talked to her in probably two years," Lachey says. "I wish her happiness. That’s where it pretty much ends."

As for his own recent breakup with girlfriend of three years, Vanessa Minnillo, Lachey doesn't seem to be too torn up over it. "I'm in a good place," he says. "I've learned, through years of not only being in this business, but being in relationships, that you have to take it as it goes. With every experience, you learn something about your life, and you try to take that and move on and be a better person because of it. We'll see what happens."

For the past six years, celebrity chef Ina Garten has been a fixture on The Food Network, where, on her "Barefoot Contessa" show, she shops, cooks and entertains, demonstrating for viewers that simple is not only easier - it's better. Not surprisingly, her casual elegance carries over from her kitchen to her garden.

I spent an afternoon with Garten earlier this month at her East Hampton home, a 3,500-square-foot shingle-style house set on 2 beautifully maintained acres, with a studio-kitchen (recently built in a separate building she calls "the barn"), where she also develops new recipes and writes cookbooks.

Comic-Con movies: 'New Moon,' 'Iron Man' and more

She’s in the highest-earning movie of the year so far, so it makes sense that Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen star Megan Fox will be a major deal at this year’s Comic-Con. However, the films everyone will be talking about are those that haven't been seen yet and we're betting New Moon, the Twilight sequel; Iron Man 2, the next cinematic chapter for Robert Downey Jr.’s high-tech hero; and James Cameron’s sci-fi epic Avatar will be THE ones to see. Brian Truitt has those on his list, as well as a few others, so click read more for a preview as well as photos of the animated hero of Astro Boy, Taylor Lautner's Jacob from New Moon, and Fox in Jennifer’s Body.

BEARS are important too!....(Arizona News)

A special summit on bears is planned for Monday night at the Prescott Valley Civic Center.

Game and Fish experts are scheduled to present information to the public about bears and human-wildlife conflicts.

There will be a time for questions and answers.

State Game and Fish spokesman Zen Mocarski says the topics include why tranquilization and moving a bear is not always an option, the decision-making process for lethal removal, and those issues that often lead to human-wildlife conflicts.

Earlier this month, Game and Fish agents killed a bear in Prescott Valley after it showed no fear of humans.

Ok...even if this is only a state level summit...dont states have better things to worry about? Bears sh*t in the forest....the end. you need not know anything more.

July 25th, 2009. Most cities over the world are having another rally in support for the people of Iran. Check facebook for a event page in your city. It's been a while and that is why this is being done, one last time to show our support, and put pressure on our own world leaders to put pressure on the iranian government to release political prisoners and condemn the government's actions.

News out of Iran has been slow but as a fellow Iranian talking, trust me protesting is still going on. Especially at nights on rooftops, but less numbers on the streets because of the crackdown. Regardless, this is the start of a revolution and that is what truly matters. Revolutions take time but they work more efficiently when the people are united and know the world is behind them.

Spread the word (via facebook, twitter or just in person) and it would be great if you attend. I want to thank ontd_political for being so supportive and behind this issue every step of the way :)

It's Cory Monteith from Glee!

My friend I went to the Oufest screening and panel with the Glee cast on Saturday. They showed us the second episode (which is even better than the pilot), and there was a hilarious Q & A afterwards.

BTW, I snapped these pictures, but I didn't pose for any pics. I was waaaayyyy too scared to even go up to any of the cast members. My friend had to literally drag me out of my seat to get the pics.

Bonus pic with Matthew Morrison!

Fox News Guest Ralph Peters Suggests Taliban Should Kill U.S. Soldier If He Deserted

Pfc. Bowe Bergdahl, the U.S. soldier who has been captured by the Taliban and appears in a video released this weekend by his captors, “went missing from his base in eastern Afghanistan on June 30.” The circumstances of his capture are still unknown. ABC News reports, “Defense officials said it appeared he somehow left his base in Paktika Province at night, likely accompanied by several Afghan soldiers.” On July 6, the Taliban claimed that “a drunken American soldier had come out of his garrison” and was captured by them.

On Fox News yesterday, guest Ralph Peters, a retired Army Lt. Col., urged against leaping to conclusions. “I was to stress first of all that we must wait until all of the facts are in until we make a final judgment,” Peters said, but quickly added, “He is an apparent deserter,” “he is collaborating with the enemy,” and “we know that this private is a liar.” Peters then suggested that if Bergdahl is a deserter, the Taliban should kill him:
I want to be clear. If, when the facts are in, we find out that through some convoluted chain of events, he really was captured by the Taliban, I’m with him. But, if he walked away from his post and his buddies in wartime, I don’t care how hard it sounds, as far as I’m concerned, the Taliban can save us a lot of legal hassles and legal bills.

Fox News host Julie Banderas tried to soften Peters’ remark by concluding, “Regardless of what the situation is, we do not want to see any U.S. soldier in harm’s way. And we hope that this guy gets out of there safely. He’s an American – he’s one of ours.” Watch it:

Jonthan Turley comments that “Peters appears to view trials as something of an unnecessary expense.” Michelle Malkin applauds Peters’ “tough words.”

(From the New York TImes)The Senate has agreed to expand the definition of hate crimes to those committed because of a victim’s sexual orientation and gender identity as part of a Pentagon policy measure that is becoming a magnet for tough social issues.

Senators added the anti-bias provisions to the bill Thursday night after voting 63 to 28 to shut off debate on the proposal by Senator Patrick J. Leahy, Democrat of Vermont and chairman of the Judiciary Committee. The measure would also allow the federal government to intervene in cases where the local authorities lacked the resources for such criminal investigations.

“We need a strong federal law to serve as a backstop to prevent hate-motivated violence in America,” Mr. Leahy said....

Why are we so fat?

One of the most comprehensive data sets available about Americans—how tall they are, when they last visited a dentist, what sort of cereal they eat for breakfast, whether they have to pee during the night, and, if so, how often—comes from a series of studies conducted by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Participants are chosen at random, interviewed at length, and subjected to a battery of tests in special trailers that the C.D.C. hauls around the country. The studies, known as the National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys, began during the Eisenhower Administration and have been carried out periodically ever since.

In the early nineteen-nineties, a researcher at the C.D.C. named Katherine Flegal was reviewing the results of the survey then under way when she came across figures that seemed incredible. According to the first National Health study, which was done in the early nineteen-sixties, 24.3 per cent of American adults were overweight—roughly defined as having a body-mass index greater than twenty-seven. (The metrics are slightly different for men and women; by the study’s definition, a woman who is five feet tall would count as overweight if she was more than a hundred and forty pounds, and a man who is six feet tall if he weighed more than two hundred and four pounds.) By the time of the second survey, conducted in the early nineteen-seventies, the proportion of overweight adults had increased by three-quarters of a per cent, to twenty-five per cent, and, by the third survey, in the late seventies, it had edged up to 25.4 per cent. The results that Flegal found so surprising came from the fourth survey. During the nineteen-eighties, the American gut, instead of expanding very gradually, had ballooned: 33.3 per cent of adults now qualified as overweight. Flegal began asking around at professional meetings. Had other researchers noticed a change in Americans’ waistlines? They had not. This left her feeling even more perplexed. She knew that errors could have sneaked into the data in a variety of ways, so she and her colleagues checked and rechecked the figures. There was no problem that they could identify. Finally, in 1994, they published their findings in the Journal of the American Medical Association. In just ten years, they showed, Americans had collectively gained more than a billion pounds. “If this was about tuberculosis, it would be called an epidemic,” another researcher wrote in an editorial accompanying the report.

I haven't read any of the books in this review yet, but I find the ~issues~ raised interesting. It is amazing how much money we could save if people ate a little healthier. It pins down some of the things that I really dislike about the Fat Acceptance movement as well.
